mini vinniesMini Vinnies

Our group is part of the Society of St Vincent de Paul. The St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP) is an international Christian voluntary organisation dedicated to tackling poverty and disadvantage by providing practical assistance to those in need.

‘Mini Vinnies’ are children aged between 7 to 11 who, with the permission of their parents and the support of their Schools, are encouraged to embark on their first steps as possible ‘Vincentians for life’. As Mini Vinnies, the youngsters have their own ‘treasured’ Prayer, Pledge and Badge, a dedicated website www.minivinnies.org.uk/ and a range of bright and colourful documents which guide them in their formative steps – helping and enabling them to become in every sense, young Vincentians – or ‘Mini Vinnies’. They are led by a Vincentian Coordinator who in OLQP is Mrs Wishart.

Mini Vinnie Year 2022 - 2023

The Mini Vinnies continued with our yearly tradition of making Christmas cards for the housebound and elderly of the Parish.  Thank you again to OLQP SVP for helping with the distribution of the cards.  We are fortunate to have lots of amazing artists in the group.

Mini Vinnie Year 2021 – 2022

The new Mini Vinnies took their pledges at their Commissioning Assembly in March.  We have our biggest group of Mini Vinnies to date!

To support their peers during Lent, the Mini Vinnies crafted 'Lentern cookies,' that had scriptures of encouragement. The Mini Vinnies continued their tradition of making Easter cards for the housebound of the Parish.

The new and existing Mini Vinnies got straight to work in Autumn 2 by making Christmas cards for the housebound and elderly of the Parish. The group had fun following a directed draw to create a Nativity picture and copied some encouraging scripture to accompany their Christmas greeting. Many thanks for the OLQP SVP group for kindly distributing the finished cards by hand delivering some and paying the postage for others.

For Advent, the Mini Vinnies decided they wanted to help other children that might not have enough at Christmas. From one child to another, the Mini Vinnies asked their peers to use their own pocket money to purchase a chocolate gift to donate to Worcester Foodbank. What a response!! A mountain of chocolate grew in the entrance hall. A great big thank you to Mrs Yates from OLQP SVP and also our Chair of Governors, for collecting the donations and delivering to Worcester Foodbank. Mrs Wishart, our Vincentian Coordinator could definitely not be trusted with all that chocolate!
